Do you love books, cinema, television and the visual arts? Do you intend to publish your own book one day?  Would you like to know more about the publishing industry and its marketing strategies? If the answers to these questions are yes then we think you’ll love “Wuthering Heights on Film: A Journey Across Reading, Writing and Publishing” or “Nine Months to Make A Book.”

This series of FREE workshops is being run by one of our members Valérie V. Hazette and will run for the next nine months. The first meeting is on Saturday 25th October at 1pm in the ‘Meeting Room’ of the Howden Park Centre, Livingston. The workshops will then continue on a monthly basis between 1pm and 2pm on a Saturday until the July 11th.

 Autumn Workshops – Oct. 25th & Nov. 22nd 2014 – 1 – 2 pm, Meeting Room

  1.  Author in search of a supportive Publisher – Drafting Book Proposals & Getting one’s Manuscript Peer-reviewed (30 min) – If you are coming along to the work could you please bring a copy of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights as we’ll be reading the first and last page of her novel, and commenting on the status of the character Lockwood.’
  2. About Wuthering Heights, the novel, and the circumstances of its publishing (30 min)

Winter Workshops – Dec. 20th 2014 as well as Jan. 24th 1 – 2 pm, Meeting Room

  1. From Final Manuscript to Final Proof – Marketing (1), Copy-editing, Type-setting & Laying-out (30 min)
  2. Wuthering Heights: reconciling Literature and Film through its cinema and TV adaptations (30 min)

Spring-Summer Workshops: July 11th 2015 – 1 – 2 pm, Meeting Room

  1. From Final Proof to Final pdf and Publication – Marketing (2), Proof-reading & Indexing (30 min)
  2. Wuthering Heights: reconciling Regionalism and Transnationalism through its cinema and TV adaptations (30 min)
  3. Book Launch of Valérie’s Monograph, Wuthering Heights on Film: a journey across time and cultures, West Lothian Write, July-August 2015
