WLW Meeting - 03/03/2015We saw a great turnout of 10 people including a couple of new folk and the return of another. Hello to Alison and Bill and welcome back Mitra. You can find out about what they, and everyone else, got up to below.

This Week’s News

A couple of weeks ago we had a discussion about writing female characters. Last week we shared an article from Tor.com discussing this issue. You can read that article, Oh No She Didn’t: The Strong Female Character, deconstructed here.

This Saturday is Wooer with Words XII, an excellent chance to try reading out some of your work to a new audience. The event lasts from 2pm till 5pm and is free to attend whether you are reading or not. More information can be found on their Facebook event.

A quick reminder that the next West Lothian Write is on the 20th of March starting at 7pm. It is a great night with the chance to hear lots of new writing come across West Lothian. There are a couple of spaces left but they’ll be gone soon.

On the 27th of April FutureLearn are re-starting their FREE online Start Writing Fiction course. It is a great wee course that lasts for eight weeks and we would recommend folk to try it out.

Registration for Falkirk Writers 2015 Seminar on the 23rd of May. The day costs £35 with an additional £2 for each competition you wish to enter. You can apply for the Seminar here. For more information about Falkirk Writers please check out their website here.
