About Us

West Lothian Writers was set in 2006 when, due to a change in circumstances, the West Lothian College Writers left the college and set out on their own. Since then the group has gone from strength to strength becoming an independent community group with a large and engaged membership.

We normally meet every two weeks to offer advice and support to each other. We also invite author’s such as Magi Gibson, Sara Sheridan and Allan Guthrie to give workshops and advice. The best way to find out about the next workshop is to keep an eye on our News Feed. We have also organised Writing Retreats and produced member anthologies.

How To Join West Lothian Writers

Before you join, we suggest you come along to the next meeting of West Lothian Writers and try us out. Even better, the first meeting is always free. Once you have decided that you like us simply fill in a West Lothian Writers’ Membership Form and bring it along to the next meeting with your £5 joining fee. By joining West Lothian Writers you will receive the following benefits:

  • Free advertising for any of your published or self-published works on the West Lothian Writers’ Website

  • Early access to any WLW projects, including any publications or writing retreats

  • Access to a private WLW Facebook group where you can share work and receive feedback outside of the regular meeting

  • Have the ability to call additional meetings to receive feedback on longer pieces of work, between 2500 and 5000 words.

Constitution and AGMs

West Lothian Writers has a Constitution which can be download here. It was updated at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2013. We hold our AGM in April every year.
